Can (modedate) alcohol intake suppress seizures and raise the seizure threshold since it is a sedative that works on the gaba receptors like benzos?

Dangerous: The danger in what you're thinking is that after enough alcohol consumption for long enough, suddenly stopping (which may be involuntary or unintentional) can cause alcohol withdrawal seizures in ANYBODY, whether or not they have epilepsy. This can be fatal. Abandon this line of reasoning. It's foolhardy.
