A member asked:

Ive heard of many requests for tubal ligation being denied because the doc felt the (adult) patient was too young. is this allowed? it seems wrong.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Some basics: OBGYN docs need hospital/operating privileges to practice. Many of those institutions have set rules for when sterilization is allowed within that hospital.Docs who violate this can loose their privileges. This may or may not apply in a given setting. Docs are not required by law or ethics to offer services for any elective procedure.A person seeking such services is free to go elsewhere.
