A member asked:

I want to know what is the difference between hemorrhoids and an anal fissure?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: Hemorrhoids are enlarged veins that occur at the anal opening and can cause bleeding or discomfort. An anal fissure is a tear or crack in the lining of the skin at the anal opening. A fissure is generally quite painful & can bleed a little. See a doctor for an exam to tell the difference.
