See your doctor: Nobody can prescribe treatment through this forum -- maybe through HealthTap's concierge program. However, you may need testing to confirm the diagnosis, determine which bacteria is causing the infection, and choose the right antibiotic. In other words, in-person care. See a doctor or clinic soon. Good luck.

Not here: This is the HT public information site based in California, where thousands of volunteer physicians based primarily in the US answer health questions. We don't offer treatment/prescriptions to anyone for anything. You need to seek out a physician licensed in your location & consult with them about any medication needs. You are welcome to ask questions as need arises.

Usually: Antibiotics are usually prescribed for UTI's, as they can develop into potentially more serious problems such as kidney infections if left unchecked. In women, UTI's and vaginitis can both present with pain upon urination. However, as UTI's irritate the bladder muscle, women with UTI's usually feel an urgent need to urinate, while women with vaginitis do not.
