Can clonidine be prescribed for a 6 yr old with asd for hyperactivity, odd, & aggression?

Yes but.........: It is rarely used as a primary medication. When the kid is on Ritalin or similar meds they often have rebound hyperactivity when the meds wear off & clonidine can be used to minimize this. All of these meds have effects & side effects & their use is many times modified to meet the individual needs of the kid.
