Lifestyle changes: Lifestyle changes may help lower your cholesterol levels. Get moderate exercise for about 30 minutes daily at least 5 days a week. Avoid smoking & too much alcohol. Keep your weight at normal levels. Lower saturated fats & avoid trans fats in your diet. Eat foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids such as salmon & mackerel & increase soluble fiber with such foods as apples & oatmeal.
