A member asked:

When should i start getting mammograms if my family has a long history of breast cancer at age 30-35?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Breasts Cancer Hx: The recommendation is to start screening ten years prior to the youngest family member who was diagnosed with breast cancer but not prior to 30 years old. You may also discuss with your family members if any of them were tested for a BRCA gene mutation. If they were not, you may want to discuss with your primary physician to see if you are a candidate for this.
