It can: Denver is known as the Mile High city because its' altitude is over 5200+ feet above sea level. Oxygen exchanges between the mother and baby via the placenta are slightly reduced especially with severe exertion such as running. Data has shown that prematurity rates are higher for pregnant Moms at higher elevations.- " A word to the wise should be sufficient".
