Difference: Subluxation of a rib refers to true dislocation from its attachment at a vertebra or the sternum. Slipping rib syndrome refers to the ribs that are not attached (floating ribs) but move somewhat out of position. True rib subluxation/dislocation is considered to be very uncommon despite the claims of many therapists who perform manipulation therapy on people.
