I had a cold test on a cracked tooth. when i ate for the first time 8 hours later, the tooth hurt more than before. could the test have caused this?

Possibly: The test may have inflamed the vital nerve in the tooth. Doesn't matter, the tooth needs to be definitively treated... root canal, restoration, or extraction? Many cracks unfortunately result in a tooth that is not restorable.
