Uncommon: People who contract HIV (differs from AIDS which is the ultimate consequence of untreated HIV infection) develop acute symptoms mostly constitutional like fever, sore throat, muscle aches, etc but not cough. However, cough has been reported secondary to inflammation of the lung. The cough will last variably and sometimes can resolve spontaneously.

Get tested: If you think may have be exposd get tested and then retested.you may or may not get a dry cough early but does develop later if untreated. That being said there are many reasons for a dry cough. Why constantly go though the anxiety and worry, just get tested.it does not matter about the percentage or the length bcause nonspecific sign. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/323971.php#overview

Get tested: Get tested now and if negative, repeat a HIV nucleic acid test at 6 months after exposure.
