Trick question: You can acquire any germ to which you have contact, especially in the fragile tissue of the throat. Since group G strep are considered part of the normal germs expected in the throat, GI tract & female genital tract you could easily acquire the germ that way. Whether or not it is the cause of any throat infection or an incidental finding during a viral sore throat is a matter of speculation.
