A member asked:

I have had a period non stop for the past 4 weeks..trying to conceive but am unsure what could be the issue. i was on depo for a year and went off it just ove a year ago.. periods were finally normal around june this year but for about 2 cycles only?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Period extended ?: Bleeding for four weeks may be a sign of a pregnancy outside of the uterus (ectopic). Obtain a serum HCG test to be certain you are not pregnant. If positive, see your gyn physician immediately for an ultrasound, as this kind of pregnancy needs immediate attention. If the test is negative, you have more time, but fibroid tumors and uterine polyps can also cause bleeding, so see your GYN doctor.
