Postpartum bleeding: Continued bleeding after delivery, followed by heavier bleeding can be caused by retained placental fragments. The first period after delivery may occur also at about 5 weeks (unless nursing) but see your OB physician for an exam to see if a minor surgical procedure is indicated to stop the bleeding.
