Possibilities: This area can swell with trauma, irritation & infection. Passage of large hard stools can trigger a fissure with some swelling. Infection by yeast or group A strep also occur in this area. An out-pouching of internal rectal skin can also occur but is rare. An exam would be needed to sort the possibilities.
