FSH "24": An FSH level of "24" is unusual at age 38, but pre-menopause can start at this age. Usually your periods will become irregular and farther apart, but usually resume regularity in 3-4 months. Ask about taking oral bcp's (if no contraindications), as this will stop ovarian production of hormones, and sustain adequate low estrogen levels until mid-50's, without effects of menopause.
