Is it normal to have dry skin after pregnancy?

Yes: Dry skin is normal after pregnancy, often due to the changing hormones in your body. Drink plenty of fluids, and use a skin moisturizer that is hypo-allergenic.

If prone to dry skin: The big change in hormones after a woman delivers may have some effect on the types and amounts of moisture and oils in the skin. Other than that, the reasons for dry skin after pregnancy are the same as the reasons for dry skin before pregnancy, such as: low humidity, frequent washing, soaps, past history of eczema, etc... One can avoid long, hot showers, use a humidifier, and use lots of cream.
