"about 6 wks": Some spotting and cramping is possible at "about six to eight weeks" of pregnancy, due to a decrease in progesterone made in the ovaries. Soon, the placenta will take over this function, but if the cramping, etc., continues, see your OB provider who may provide some progesterone to remedy the temporary deficit. If this is a miscarriage, there is little which will stop it.
