Short cycles: At 39, there is more stimulation of the ovary to create ovulation, which can cause ovulation to occur on "day 8 or 9" which would make your period occur on day 22 or 23 unless you are pregnant. This can be "normal" for a while, and then your cycles will again be close to a month apart before again becoming irregular.
