Depends: It's hard to tell in any person, but the greater the number of relatives with bipolar disorder, and closer they are to you in relationship (e.g. Parents and siblings vs. Cousins, uncles and aunts), the greater a person's likelihood of developing bipolar disorder. Sometimes it's hard to know because misdiagnosis is common in bipolar disorder and one may not know what relatives truly have.
