Maybe: The highest risk to the baby occurs if the first herpes outbreak is late in pregnancy or during labor & delivery. About 40% delivered vaginally will develop encephalitis & or die. Risk of that outcome drops to ~5% with 2ndary outbreaks which can be reduced by meds. Many will do a scheduled CS before labor because of the high risks if infected. Consult with your OBGYN on your case.
