Must check the heart: Any person with chest pain and arm symptoms has to go to her doctor or the ER to be checked right away for a heart attack. That means not waiting at home to see if it turns into a bad heart attack. As the saying goes, "better safe than sorry." That said, if the symptoms are not new, and have already been evaluated and found not related to the heart, sometimes the ER may or may not be needed.
