A member asked:

At what age does menopause occur and what tests can confirm such?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Range of ages: The earliest symptoms of the decline in estrogen production begin usually in the late 30's and early 40's. However, the severity increases in the mid to late 40's and early 50;s with hot flashes & vaginal dryness. Menopause or period cessation will occur often after skipping periods (irregular) during that phase by age 55 to 60. A FSH blood test can confirm or not ovarian cessation aka menopause.
