For the last three days i have had painful cough which hurts chest. it is very bad at night with an hour or more of coughing fits during night.

See your doctor: See your doctor as soon as possible in order to determine the cause of the cough. It is likely chest wall pain from some sort of bronchitis however your doctor will need to rule out more serious causes such as bacterial pneumonia or pulmonary embolism. You will likey need a chest x-ray. Keep track of any fevers, discolored sputum, or associated symptoms such as shortness of breath.
