Vaginal disch ?: If your periods are not regular at 40 (i.e., every 28-24 days) but arrive at much longer intervals, a "bloody discharge" can be "normal", b/c the ovaries require more stimulation to "ovulate", producing higher estrogen levels which make the lining of the uterus degenerate in parts. This causes withdrawal bleeding secondary to fluctuations in estrogen levels.
