Likely pressure: Anal closure is the result of a purse string like set of muscles. Stool passage is meant to be by a gradual relaxation & stretch of the skin. The explosive/bursting pressure of a stool bolus could easily force the tissue open and create a tear. Random bits of semi-formed stool likely augment the escaping load.
