Condom failure rate: When condoms are used alone for contraception, the failure rate (unintended pregnancy) is up to 15 to 20%. Run a pregnancy test and if negative, consider future use of a local vaginal contraceptive (Today sponge) combined with the condom as the failure rate is then less than 2%.
