As long as you can: Your smoking is a contributing factor to your getting pneumonia in the first place. The best thing you can do for your health is to quit smoking completely. Get nicotene patches or nicorette (nicotine gum) gum to help with the cravings. Chew sugarless gum and suck on sugarless pepermints. You will live years or decades longer if you follow this advice.
