Usually not: The surgeon will almost always use an absorbable suture. Sometimes people are aware of a little bit of thread that seems to be sticking out of part of the wound. This will eventually disappear. The hospital will also usually give you a discharge summary where it should state if you need follow up to have stitches removed.
