A member asked:

Good day, can unprotected sex right after treatment with antibiotics cause an sti when initial treatment was given for bv and not sti?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sure: "Unprotected" sex before, during, or after antibiotic (antibacterial) treatment can "cause an STI" but only if the other person has STI germs, with or without symptoms. Sexually transmitted infections are TRANSMITTED, and are not created out of nothing. In order to catch a germ and develop a disease, one must acquire that germ from some thing or some person.
