Spotting/cramps: If you are not on hormonal therapy, light bleeding ("spotting") can be a result of clots formed in the interior of the uterus which block partially the cervical canal, lessening the amount of visible bleeding. Uterine contractions to force the clots out into the vagina can cause significant cramping until the clots are expelled.
