Dandruff: is excessively dry and flaking skin. If it is painful or bleeding certainly see your doctor or a dermatologist. Otherwise you can try an over the counter dandruff shampoo. If you are in a dry atmosphere consider using a humidifier in your room and avoid products containing alcohol, which is drying. Consume good fats and oils such as coconut oil and olive oil. Peace and good health.

Natural factors: You skin grows from a basement membrane in layers, oldest on top. The older skin cells are shed constantly as each cell looses bonds to it's neighbor. You rarely notice this. Your scalp cells are oilier from glands that service the thick hair & this can act as a glue that bonds cells into flakes. Dandruff shampoos have extra chemicals that break this glue action helps stop the flaking.
