Late oral bcp: Taking an active pill "late" will not stop the protection of the oral bcp's. Remember that the normal instructions include taking "placebo" pills for "seven days" (which have no hormones in them), and this is consistent with pregnancy protection. What can happen in "missing an active pill" is breakthrough bleeding, so if this occurs, stop everything and start a new pack in four/five days.

Maybe: The continuous use of the contraceptive low dose pills is critical for their efficacy. Missing the last active pill if the other 20 were taken is less of a risk for pregnancy but still a risk is present during unprotected intercourse without additional protection.
