Hard to say: I know of no way they could collect such data. In chlamydia or gonorrhea (the main infertility germs) women may have no symptoms for a prolonged period & not know they are infected or who infected them. The germs must move up into the sensitive tissue of the Fallopian tubes & nest there, before producing scarring. The more time the germ has to grow the more likely it will cause damage.
