A member asked:

Dear dr. i have used the nuvaring as contraceptive since dec but i have too many side effects. i originally wanted the copper iud since i prefer non-hormonal options. please adivce if the copper iud has to be inserted by a gyn or gp?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Contraceptive: Good morning, it’s unfortunate that you are having many side effects with the Nuva ring. To insert the copper IUD (Paraguard) you must be properly trained and either a GYN or GP can insert the IUD.
