A member asked:

Sprayed showerhead in vagina to clean off soap, scared of embolism. how likely is it to happen and when would it happen? also 27 weeks pregnant

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Shower spray/vagina: This is unlikely to cause an embolism. Embolic disease in pregnancy is more frequent at the time of delivery, and is very rare. Shower irrigation of the vaginal area is common in Europe, and a "bidet" is an appliance seen in most European bathrooms, which essentially does the same as your showerhead, and is very safe.
