Posterior repair: A posterior repair of a rectocoele pulls several layers of connective tissue, muscle and mucosa together, and is in an extremely sensitive area where many pain nerves are located. The swelling produced by the surgery can make the stitches hurt even at one month, but it is not likely that another rectocoele will occur.
