Dog bite is infected. dr. said may have gone to bone/ wants a biopsy. why?

Just speculating: If it is just a soft tissue infection primary treatment would usually be oral & limited to 7- 14 days at most. If it is in the bone it would usually take six weeks of meds, often given intravenously to get rid of the germ.
