My son has a 5cm soft lump (under skin) on the side of his body. would this be a cyst? how is it drained? seeing dr later this week.

Maybe: Might be a collection of fat cells called a lipoma that is not drained but can be cut out. If it is a deep abscess it would be cut into to drain, packed and antibiotics often given.
