A member asked:

Usually start period on wednesday morning. started wednesday evening. is this still considered on time? on pill.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Period onset: While on oral bc, or in fact with non-pill controlled menses, the onset of bleeding can vary. With oral bcp, it will be a matter of hours, but with non-pill cycles, stress from any cause may delay ovulation and consequently delay the typical 14 day time from ovulation until onset of menses. Menses on "the pill" are simply withdrawal events from the estrogen in the pill, not related to ovulation.
