A member asked:

My friend just got diagnosed with hsv-2. can i still share a cigarette with her? or will it be passed on to me?

No. Don't share cig.: It is not safe to smoke cigarettes, or to smoke anything else other than brisket, ribs or chicken. Smoking cigarettes means inhaling the toxic stuff of burnt organic material and its added chemicals, whatever they might be. It is even more dangerous if a woman smokes and takes estrogen, such as in birth control pills and other hormonal pills, creams, or patches. And yes, oral herpes is contagious.

Quit smoking: Agree with Dr. Kwok. You are putting your health at greater risk by smoking than you would by kissing your friend with HSV 2. Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex. Get HPV vaccine, if you are under 27 years of age.
