Orthopedist: Persistent low back pain can be due to inflammation of the sacroiliac joint. If pain radiates into the buttock or thigh, herniated intervertebral disc may be the cause. If the pain is not affected by bending, possibilities include kidney pathology. If there is obvious aggravation by back motions, see an orthopedic specialist for diagnosis and treatment. Physical therapy may be ordered.
