NGU?: Chlamydia itself always is cured with doxycycline if taken as prescribed (usually for 7 days). However, some cases of nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) are not caused by chlamydia, and not all NGU responds well to doxycycline. And it's possible to have more than one cause. OTOH, discharge is a more important symptom; burning alone often will go away on its own. Return to doctor if symptoms continue.
