Yes: You should not eat for 12-14 hours before the test. Drinking water is allowed.

Yes because Estimate: Cholesterol=a molecule made by every animal cell; promoted as a way to guess at LDL particle concentrations (eating ↑estimate confusion). It is carried within all the lipoprotein particles. LDL particles carry 3-6,000 fat molecules/particle; cholesterol contents vary widely. LDL-C is not LDL & is only estimated: (T. Chol. - CHL-C - 20% triglycerides); yet low correlation with actual LDL particles.
