Stress/PMS?: Stress in any significant amount and length can cause delays in ovulation, which will delay the onset of a menstrual period since ovulation always precedes a period by about 14 days. PMS is generally precipitated by varying amounts of estrogen production or lack thereof, and produces emotional changes and irritability, which collectively is called "PMS". Obtain a serum HCG test for pregnancy.
