A member asked:

Is it normal to have one breast tender and swollen but no the other before my period?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Breast pain/one side: Breast pain or tenderness is common prior to onset of menses, but if only one side is tender, and breasts are approximately the same size, it may be due to mild mastitis on the painful side. Stand in a warm/hot shower and let the water fall on the affected breast a couple times a day, and it should improve. If not, see your gyn provider for an exam.
