A member asked:

I got the nexplanon implant in march and my periods have completely stopped since then. however i have a constant brown discharge. it's odorless, i was just wondering if this was a normal reaction to the implant?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nexplanon: The implant contains progestin, which has the biological properties of progesterone, which will have a variable effect on ovulation. Progesterone will often prevent ovulation, and therefore your regular period. The "brown discharge" is the shedding of the lining of the uterus, and is normal when first accommodating to the active hormone in the implant.
