Needs examination: Possibilities include trigger finger and depending on you age degenerative or inflammatory arthritis, or even trapped nerve (cervical radiculopathy or peripheral nerve problem). A doctor examination would be a good place to start. If the cause remains unclear after this tests such as bloods, xrays and/or referrals to specialists can be arranged if needed.

Right finger pain: Sound like a tendonitis early or incipient "trigger finger" . Steroid injection can help.. May also be due to ganglioma and small nerve tumor ( benign), or arthritis. though no injury our fingers are used repetitively. Conditions like DM can exacerbate .
