Too old: Most adults of your age have already been exposed to the virus. Consult your PCP re: testing for all STDs.

Vaccine for age 9-26: There are many strains of HPV. Gardasil-9 vaccine protects against 9 of the strains. If a person has some strains already, the vaccine can protect against other strains he does not yet have. If he is in a long, monogamous relationship and has already caught all the HPV strains the other person has, then he should be at little additional risk of catching new strains. Otherwise, Gardasil-9 can help.
