Ankle soreness: Can you recall a recent sprain type injury of that ankle? If so was there initially swelling and black and blue discoloration? In view of your current ankle discomfort with observation of a clicking sound,I wonder about a ligament injury. Arthritis is another possibility. If symptoms persist, consult an orthopedic surgeon for evaluation and advice. An X-Ray may be ordered.
